💐 Text Translation Prompts

Abstract

This section covers the prompts for "Text Translation" task.

Text Translation is a natural language processing task that involves translating text from the source language to the target language. This task involves understanding the grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of the source and target languages to generate coherent and accurate translations.

Translation systems won’t do word-to-word translations. Instead, they analyze the source text, decode its meaning, and then encode that meaning into the target language. For example, when asked to translate the French sentence "Je suis content" to English, a translation system generates a more natural translation like "I'm happy” rather than a word-to-word translation like "I am content".

Assume that you want to translate text from English to Tamil. For this, you can write a prompt like this

Prompt

You are an expert translator with fluency in English and Tamil languages. Translate the given text from English
to Tamil.

Text: 'Hello, how are you today? I hope you are doing well. It's a beautiful day outside.'

Output

வணக்கம்! இன்று எப்படி இருக்கிறீர்கள்? நன்றாக இருப்பீர்கள் என்று நம்புகிறேன். வெளியே அழகான
நாளாக இருக்கிறது!

Here's a breakdown of the translation:

- வணக்கம் (Vaṇakkam): Hello
- இன்று எப்படி இருக்கிறீர்கள் (Iṉṟu eppaṭi irukkiṟīrkaḷ): How are you today?
- நன்றாக இருப்பீர்கள் என்று நம்புகிறேன் (Naṉṟāka irukkiṟīrkaḷ enru nampukirēṉ): I hope you are doing well.
- வெளியே அழகான நாளாக இருக்கிறது (Veliyē aḻakāna nāḷāka irukkiṟatu): It's a beautiful day outside.
